Curtains Measuring Guide | 247 Guides
How to measure your windows
It's easy to order made to measure curtains from 247Curtains, as you only need two measurements - the width and the drop.
Use a metal tape measure, as cloth and plastic tape measures can bend and stretch and provide inaccurate measurements. Always check your measurements carefully.
Then we'll take it from there and in no time at all you'll receive your tailor-made curtains to fit your window perfectly. If you have any other questions about measuring, please call us on 01484 443790.

Width (all headings):
Measure the entire width of your pole or track. If you don’t have one in place yet, measure the width of your window recess and allow for any overlap (we recommend adding 30cm)
Drop (pencil & pinch pleat):
Measure the distance from the top of the track or if you have a pole, the bottom of the ornamental ring down to where you would like them to hang to. We recommend 1cm above the floor (2/3cm if you have not yet had carpet fitted but intend to) or 4cm below the window sill.
Drop (eyelet heading):
Measure the distance from the top of the pole down to where you would like them to hang to. We recommend to 1cm above the floor (2/3cm if you have not yet had carpet fitted but intend to) or 4cm below the window sill.
Pencil and Pinch Pleat Heading Information: Pencil Pleat and Pinch Pleat curtains will always be manufactured with an approximately 7.5cm heading.
Pencil Pleat curtains feature with 3 different levels to hang the curtain hook from, with our recommendation that you use the middle tape for optimal coverage.
Eyelet Heading Information: Eyelet curtains will always be manufactured with approximately 3cm of the fabric above the eyelet to ensure a quality finish. Eyelet size: 4cm internal diameter
Please Note:-
We manufacture all Made-to-Measure-Curtains to a minimum of 100% fullness (Double Width*) except in the case of eyelet heading, in which case we manufacture to a range of 75-80% fullness. Please check the specification on your chosen product for an accurate fullness %.
All Made-to-Measure curtains are manufactured to the nearest Half Width (1 Width = 130cm*). Please see an example below:
Track/Pole Width: 195cm. (Pencil pleat headings only)
Each curtain panel would have a fabric width of 195cm* generating a total fabric amount of 390cm*. This is to allow for a generous gather.
In essence, the amount of fabric you receive will be approximately double the Track/Pole width specified for pencil pleat.
* Fabric Widths can vary slightly (10cm either way)
* Curtains over 1 width will require a join
